But Luke, Michael, Calum and Ashton write their own songs and play their own instruments, and look to the pop punk style of artists like Blink 182 for inspiration. Their debut album features assistance from artists like Benji and Joel Madden from Good Charlotte as well as Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low. Singer-songwriter Jason Mraz got his start playing coffee shops in San Diego’s funky Ocean Beach neighborhood. Since then he’s won two Grammys and was even inducted into the Hal David Songwriters Hall of Fame. His just-released fifth album is unambiguously titled “YES!” and it features his longtime collaborators Raising Jane. Australian singer and songwriter Sia isn’t your average star. She started off doing solo work and singing with indie darlings Zero 7 and eventually wrote songs for pop stars from Christina Aguilera to Katy Perry, all while struggling with stage fright and health issues. In the wake of the success of her recent single Chandelier, however, she’s found innovative ways around her anxiety, performing on talk shows without facing the audience. We’ve got her sixth album for you here, it’s called “1000 Forms of Fear” and features guest appearances from The Weeknd and Diplo. He just released his fourth album “Trigga,” it features collabs with Ty Dolla $ign, Juicy J and even Justin Bieber. Cutie-pie ginger-haired Ed Sheeran is just 23 years old but has already captured America’s hearts with songs like “The A Team” and “Sing.” Following in the footsteps of his first album which used a plus symbol as the title, his second album is called “x,” the symbol for “multiply.” The album features production help from Pharrell Williams and Rick Rubin, so listen as much as you want to “x” from Ed Sheeran, it’s our Album of the Week.

SoCal combo Linkin Park are known for their sonic adventurousness, combining hard rock, hip hop and electronic styles. But for their sixth album “The Hunting Party” they’ve returned to a more straight-ahead rock sound, bringing in guest musicians from bands like Helmet, System of a Down and Rage Against the Machine. Detroit native Jack White is a true renaissance man. As half of the White Stripes, he helped change the face of American rock music, and at only 38 years old he ranks among history’s most innovative guitarists. Lately he’s released material as part of the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather, but now we have his second solo album. It’s called “Lazaretto,” and White himself calls it a potluck of genres, from garage rock to country. Listen as much as you want to “Lazaretto” from Jack White, our Album of the Week.

30-year-old Texas native Miranda Lambert only finished third on the show “Nashville Star” but since then she’s proven to be a real winner, grabbing the Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year award 5 years running. Her fifth studio album is called “Platinum” and it features eight songs written by Lambert, plus collaborations with Little Big Town and The Time Jumpers as well as “Somethin’ Bad,” a duet with Carrie Underwood recently featured as one our Songs Stuck In My Head.
